All you need to know about AIESEC’s Global Volunteer Program

<![CDATA[AIESEC is the world’s largest youth-run organization. Founded in 1948 by seven individuals, the organization is now found in 128 countries of the world including Ghana. It is the leading youth organization accredited by the Department of Public Information (DPI), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the International Labour Organization (ILO). AIESEC has Roster consultative status to the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nation Countries.   AIESEC in each member country selects outstanding university students and recent graduates and provide them with practical and professional experience in some of the other member countries. Duration of AIESEC Internships is minimum 6 weeks and maximum 1.5 years. After that, interns are not allowed to stay in the foreign country, but to return and use gained experience for the benefit of their own communities and countries AIESEC runs three exchange programs: Global Volunteer, Global Talent and Global Entrepreneur. Today we focus on Global Volunteer. The Global Volunteer Program, popularly known as GV, and previously known as Global Community Development Program (GCDP) like all AIESEC Exchange programs comes in two phases: Outgoing and Incoming. The Outgoing Global Volunteer Program is where  young people between the ages of 18-30 travel abroad to intern on SDG-aligned projects which has direct impact on livelihood of the people in the community as well as achieving the goals under the SDGs. Exchange Participants who take part in the Outgoing Global Volunteer Program, get to develop themselves through our Leadership Development Model as well as join a team of other participants from different countries who will be working on the same project. The Global Volunteer Program is open all year round with major peaks being winter and summer. Winter Is Coming! AIESEC Ghana invites all Ghanaian youth between the ages of 18-30 years to Live the Experience abroad this winter.
