Amaarae scores MTV EMA nomination for Best African Act

Ghanaian singer Amaarae has scored a nomination at the 2021 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA).

The ‘Sad Girlz Luv Money’ hitmaker was nominated for the Best African Act.

Rounding up the nominees in the category are Diamond Platnumz(Tanzania), Focalistic (South Africa), Tems, and Wizkid from Nigeria.

Master KG won in the category last year, snatching the award from fellow SA duo Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa as well as Nigerian megastar Burna Boy, Rema, Ugandan’s Sheebah and Gaz Mawete from DRC.

Justin Bieber leads the nominations with a whopping eight noms, closely followed by Doja Cat and Lil Nas X.

This year’s Europe Music Awards will take place in Budapest, Hungary and will welcome to the stage some seriously talented stars.
