Apple Music reveals Lasmid as the latest Up Next Artist in Ghana

Apple Music today announced the latest musician to be featured in its Up Next artist development program in Ghana, is Afrobeats singer-songwriter, Lasmid (real name Nathaniel Ladsmid Owusu).

 

“I’m super elated to be selected for Up Next in Ghana for February. Apple Music has also been like a family, supporting me since day one,” he tells Apple Music. “Get ready to experience the infectious rhythms, captivating vocals, and irresistible energy that define Lasmid’s signature sound. Lasmid is UP NEXT!”

After attracting the attention of the country by winning Ghana’s MTN Hitmaker reality show in 2019, Lasmid released a string of singles that laid the foundation for him to explore a fusion of Afrobeats and Highlife. The release of his single “Friday Night” (2022) gave him his first taste of viral and chart success, and also saw him venture into more pop-rooted territory, while maintaining an impossible groove.

 

Nathaniel Ladsmid Owusu known professionally as Lasmid is a talented Ghanian Singer who is deemed to be one of the fastest rising voices in the new corp of west African talents breaking boundaries and setting global records via the Afrobeats and Highlife genre.

It was alongside JZyNO that he achieved massive viral success with “Butta My Bread”(2023) though, releasing a string of Afropop singles including “Bad Boy” (2023) and “Fiona”(2023) feat. Fazil. His latest single “PUUL” (2024) once again puts his smooth vocals on display, underpinned by a catchy chorus and melody.
