Compton’s newest star BoogieFrmDa8 is a name everyone needs to be familiar with immediately. The Compton, California native is only 21 years old, but has the wisdom of an OG. Having grown up with a well-known street figure as his father and his mother a published author, Boogie’s upbringing was the perfect mix of brawn, brain, and discipline. Boogie’s story began on 148th street, on the west side of Compton, becoming a fixture in the Campanella Park neighborhood by 8 years old, taking on the role of lookout, ensuring the older guys on the block were alerted of any potential incoming threats. Although he grew up in the mecca of G-Funk and West-Coast Hip Hop, the music of Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, The Game and Kendrick Lamar did not heavily influence Boogie.

With roots in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Boogie gravitated towards Plies, Lil Boosie and Lil Durk’s music and his music has subsequently been influenced by the southern acts. In 2018, at 18 years old, he started his rap career by rapping over the instrumental of hit records such as “Uno” by AMB Jayy, on Instagram going viral and earning the moniker “Mr. Takeover Beats.” Currently, in 2021, Boogie has picked up an immense amount of steam by consistently releasing singles featuring the hottest new artists in Los Angeles including “Pullin Skitz” featuring Baby Stone Gorillas, Treyway6k, and fellow Compton act YS.

Today, BoogieFrmDa8 brings us a brand new single titled “Spend Sum”, an energetic, money- making anthem where he emphatically states, “I’m tryna make a thousand hundreds, let ’em keep coming”. In this Sebastian Beltran directed visual Boogie, he is shown in a piano room as he flaunts his impressive jewelry collection. This is the first of many new singles with accompanying visuals that will be released through the end of this year as he looks to go into 2022 recognized as Compton’s next superstar.

Minister Yvonne releases official music video for “Give Me Rest”

Hot on the heels of her recently released ‘Faith’ album, UK-based singer-songwriter, Minister Yvonne releases a powerful fifth video off the album, titled ‘Give Me Rest’.

The mouthwatering visual is available now on YouTube and can be viewed below

The singer who doubles as an HR Specialist with the British Armed Forces said that this song was inspired by Matthew 11:28 “Come unto Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

The 2021 UK-based Gospel Artiste of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards UK added that “the world is full of stress and we face challenges, hardships, trials, wearies everyday of our lives that sometimes makes it difficult for us to subdue and have dominion. The song is therefore a sweet invitation for those who are labouring to seek rest from God”.

The melodious ballad-themed song since its release on last Friday night has been garnering numbers on social media.

“Give Me Rest” was produced at the UBBS Studio. The song is powerful, edifying and refreshingly soothing – from the lyrics that cry out to the soul of the listener to the production.

In the music video, Minister Yvonne is seen in multiple locations throughout the bold aesthetically appealing video – including sprawling and lush outdoor nature scenes and a dungeon where she is choreographically surrounded by dancers and eye-popping costumes.

The video features Minister Yvonne in a number of incredibly striking looks, donning a slew of designer looks in the song’s accompanying visual. Then the scene switches to a dungeon where chained Minister Yvonne is seeking for rest, salvation and freedom from hardships.

The fashion doesn’t stop there, however. Never one to miss an opportunity for a head-turning costume change in which Minister Yvonne later switches into a custom print ensemble—a gothic yellow Victorian ball gown.

Directed by FiMenz, the ‘Give Me Rest’ visual is a well-conceptualised piece of work, full of pleasant activity, gripping images brought to life by the sheer sweetness of sound. The production concept, scenery, costume and lighting beautifully synchronise with the sound rhythm.

Minister Yvonne has always believed that Gospel music videos can compete on a level playing field with many mainstream videos in the industry.

Ari Lennox Releases Video For Waste My Time
Ari Lennox turns to therapy to solve her relationship questions in the new music video for her single “Waste My Time,” out today via Dreamville/Interscope Records. In the video, directed by Val Vega, the soul and R&B superstar ponders why she keeps falling for the same guys before the scene transforms to a steamy series of sets – Ari glistening in a pool, seducing in a gold and pink cloud, and embraced in a steamy romance. Does she get the answers she needs? Join Ari’s therapy journey and watch the full “Waste My Time” video HERE.
The “Waste My Time” video arrives on a big day for Ari Lennox’s career, as her age/sex/locationtour kicks off tonight at the famed House of Blues in Las Vegas. The 34-date trek runs through March 29 and hits several major markets – including concerts in New York City, Toronto, Chicago, Los Angeles and more –before it concludes with two shows in her hometown of Washington, D.C. Purchase your tickets for the age/sex/location Tour at www.arilennox.com

age/sex/location is Ari Lennox’s second studio album and was released in September to spectacular reviews. Pitchfork praised the album as “a bountiful exploration of what it truly means to be grown and sexy,” while Rolling Stone confirmed that the star “has delivered her best work to date” and VIBE featured the album on its list of the 25 Best R&B Albums of 2022. Standout tracks include “Queen Space,” with Summer Walker and “POF,” which President Obama placed at No. 3 on his annual favorite music series for 2022, and of course, the Jermaine Dupri and Bryan-Michael Cox-produced hit “Pressure.” The RIAA gold-certified hit has soared to over 640 million streams, hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay and became her first solo Hot 100 single. “Waste My Time” extends Ari’s hitmaking streak at radio, with its No. 10 spot on Adult R&B Airplay. Thanks to those hits and more fan favorites, age/sex/location has already raced past 200 million streams in the U.S..
If that weren’t enough, Ari has continued to reap massive wins in recent months. In November, Ari delivered electric performances at both the American Music Awards and the Soul Train Awards, where she was nominated for six trophies, including Album of the Year and Song of the Year. In December, she became the first-ever digital cover for HuffPost, with the publication proudly declaring the First Lady of Dreamville “a student of her craft and proof that R&B ain’t dead.”
age/sex/location is another win in Ari Lennox’s book, following her acclaimed 2019 debut, Shea Butter Baby, now officially certified gold by the RIAA. The project, now with over 1.5 billion global streams, spawned the RIAA platinum-certified title track, featuring Dreamville label head and marquee artist J. Cole, gold-certified singles “BMO” and “Whipped Cream,” and “Up Late.” Critical recognition capped off the debut era with nominations for a Grammy Award (for her contribution to Dreamville’s album, Revenge of the Dreamers III), three 2019 Soul Train Awards, and two 2020 NAACP Awards.
