Although I was not impressed with Yvonne Okoro’s dress for the premiere of her latest rom-com, ‘Ghana Must Go’, I cannot take away the box office success of the premiere away from her. The sold-out movie filled up the cinema rooms of Silverbird at the Accra Mall, so much that my complimentary ticket was declared invalid until a at certain period. Thus I got to the Cinema by 7 pm but saw the movie after 10pm. If you are on my snapchat (ameyaw112) you would have seen a video of patrons fighting cinema attendants in order to get into a cinema room to see the movie.
Silverbird officials had to stop selling tickets during the red carpet ceremony because there were no more spaces available in the cinema halls. Well, even though we do not have any records on Box Office sales from Silverbird Cinemas, officials hinted that it was their biggest opening for any movie yet this New Year.

The premiere ceremony was attended by showbiz names like Nkem Owo aka Osuofia, Kofi Adjorlolo, Lydia Forson, EL, Sandra Ankobiah and Luckie Lawson. The rest include Roseline Okoro, Elizabeth Okoro, Nana Akua Addo, Adjetey Anang and a host of others. Ghana Must Go, directed by Frank Rajah Arase is comedy that reflects on the cultures of Ghana and Nigeria while it also silently revisits a common history between the two countries.

“Thanks to everyone that turned up for Ghana Must Go …it was so insane sold out premiere…,” Yvonne said on social media, Sunday afternoon after receiving congratulatory messages from contented patrons.
