Renowned Highlife icon, Nana Acheampong, has dispelled persistent rumors of discord between himself and fellow musician Daddy Lumba.

During an interview with Accra FM’s Nana Romeo, Nana Acheampong clarified that despite the lyrical content of some of their songs suggesting tension, it was all in the spirit of entertaining their audience.

The pair initially joined forces in the late 80s, forming the musical duo known as the Lumba Brothers after crossing paths in Germany. However, they eventually pursued individual paths in their musical careers, leading to speculation among fans regarding the reasons behind their split.

Speculations ranged from financial disputes to romantic entanglements.

Refuting these speculations, the ‘Casanova’ hitmaker emphasized the absence of animosity between them. He further asserted that contrary to popular belief, he has never released a disparaging song directed at Daddy Lumba or any other artist, but rather his music is imbued with reflections on life experiences.

“In my opinion, those songs were not made about me. I don’t consider them as targeted at me and vice-versa. These were just songs to entertain our fans. I have no beef song.

“It may look as though we started the beef phenomenon, but me and my brother with whom people say I had a beef, had nothing ill going on between us. We had no problem, not for a single day. What happened was that after we made music together for a while, we parted ways. People thought it was money or women,” he said.

He continued by saying, “The fans were hurt because they had admired us as a duo of young talented music performers and breaking up, for them, was a signal that something big had caused it.”

According to the music legend, their separation caused rivalry among their fans who were rather ‘beefing’ and assuming the same was ongoing between himself and Daddy Lumba.

“When we broke into two different music brands, it also divided the fans causing rivalry similar to the one between football teams Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, struggling for one trophy. They were fighting but my brother and I had no beef between us,” he stressed.
