D'banj joins Ludacris, Akon, Kevin Hart and other at the 7th annual Luda Day Weekend
Nigerian superstar, D’banj was a special guest at American rapper, Ludacris’ 7th annual ‘Luda Day weekend’ last weekend. The annual event shows a different side to the Grammy-winning rapper as he drops the mic and calls on his friends for a weekend full of charity and fun. According to Ludacris, the event aims at giving back to the community, which he says is the most gratifying component of his five day event. “Supporting our youth includes educating and empowering them about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle-responsible dating, greener communities, and healthy eating habits. Eating right and exercise promote good habits, both mentally and physically. We want to show young people that physical activity and eating well can be fun and a part of your everyday life.” The celebrations started on Thursday, August 30 with the “Welcome to Atlanta Dinner”. On Friday it was “Luda Salutes the DJs & Media Appreciation” when DJs, music-enthusiasts, media, and industry tastemakers gathered for a private appreciation party at Frank Ski’s Restaurant & Lounge sponsored by Conjure Cognac and Miller Coors. Guests enjoyed passed appetizers while listening to some of Atlanta’s premiere DJs take turns providing the soundtrack for the event. Notable DJs including; DJ Infamous, DJ Holiday, DJ Kash, DJ Will, producer Sonny Digital, actor Lance Gross, Larenz Tate, and more lent their support to Ludacris, DTP Records and LudaDay Weekend. Saturday was “Luda & Friends College Campus Takeover and LudaDay Party”. Ludacris and his celebrity friends, Kevin Hart, Larenz Tate, Keke Palmer, Lil Chuckee, Mykko Montana, Pastor Troy, Love & Hip Hop Atlanta co-star Momma Dee, producer Mike Will, buzzing new artist Crystal Renee and thousands of students and locals gathered for the annual free block party and concert at Clark Atlanta University’s Student Center. Patrons were treated to complimentary Zaxby’s, Red Bull activations, live performances, and Microsoft gaming stations displayed throughout the venue. Sunday was “Ludacris (Team Luda) vs. Kevin Hart (Team Hart)” Celebrity Basketball Game. The premiere LudaDay Weekend event was the sold-out celebrity basketball game (Team Luda VS Team Kevin Hart) held at Morehouse Forbes Arena. Thousands gathered to watch their favorite NBA players; Lou Williams, Kenyon Martin, Josh Powell, John Wall, Shannon Brown, face- off against Floyd Mayweather, Larenz Tate, Pusha-T, Big Tigger, Mase, Kenny Burns, Sammie, and Lil Chuckee, while numerous celebrities on the sidelines including; Keri Hilson, Keshia Knight Pulliam, LeToya Luckett, Lance Gross, Diamond, Toya Wright, Kandi Burruss, Rasheeda, Keke Palmer, Devyne Stephens, Akon, and more cheered on the teams from the stands.
