Dreams College of Creative Arts holds spectacular 5th convocation

On Wednesday, September 28, Dreams College of Creative Arts, Ghana, held its annual convocation.

This year’s ceremony was for the very first time, held at the newly established Dreams Icon Studio inside Dansoman.

Marking its fifth convocation ceremony, a total of 40 students were presented with certificates.

Nine students from the Regular School were presented with Diploma’s in Fashion Design Technology Technique and 31 students graduated from Couture ÉCOLE.

Speaking at the ceremony, the college honcho, Dr. Clement Asemnyra, encouraged the graduates to display commitment and tenacity as they go out to start their fashion dreams.

“Your education at DREAMS has prepared you well. The personal characteristics that you displayed to get you here today, energy, commitment, tenacity and an open mind will serve you well for the future and will help you recognize and seize that opportunity that exists in an ever open world,” he stated in his speech.

He also added that he was “very confident that the graduates will go into the world to contribute to the socio-economic development of our mother land.”

Special students who had done exceptionally well in their studies were presented with awards and gifts.

The convocation ceremony precedes the annual Dreams Couture show which is scheduled for October 1st this year.

This years gala, dubbed “THE DREAMS NIGHT” will see  32 creatives who have successfully completed the prescribed courses for the program “WOMENS WEAR DESIGN TECHNOLOGY” (COUTURE ÉCOLE) showcasing their designs on the runway.

Vertical Rave to host Africas first global music festival

African Music stars are set to converge in Lagos for a redefining moment as the first-ever Vertical Rave Festival holds on the 17th of December 2022. Music fans and experiential seekers will enjoy the perfect blend of music and culture at this cross-generational event.

Music continues to take new turns in Africa, with investors coming into the industry with their resources. The Afrobeat and Amapiano music genres are currently dominating the music space globally, and Vertical Rave is set to promote the African tune and set the pace for new African stars to emerge.

The festival will treat its audiences to a musical spree, acoustic performances, and back-to-back live music on centre stage. The maiden event will showcase a massive lineup of artists, with other major artists reveal in the works.

The roster of artists comprises an exciting mix of the African music elite and some of the newer acts who have enjoyed success in 2022. Omah Lay, Bnxn, Made Kuti, Lojay, Ruger, Victony, Young John, Major League DJz.

According to him, Vertical Rave seeks to create more space for young African talent by amplifying their voice on a global scale. He revealed that the festival would “showcase the largest group of inspiring international artists, creators, innovators and performers ever seen in Lagos at one time.”

Juliet Bawuah wins Sports Journalist of the Year at the GJA Awards

TV3’s Juliet Bawuah was adjudged the Sports Journalist of the Year at the recently held Ghana Journalists Association Awards in Accra.

 

Juliet’s story titled ‘Rugby at the Beach: Young players take baby steps in Famous sport’ won her the coveted prize at the event, which is in its 26th year.

 

Set in Teshie and Nungua in Ghana’s capital, Accra, the story highlighted the plight of young Rugby players who go through visible challenges to learn a sport they have grown accustomed to.
