DStv Mobile partners with Apple to launch iDrifta

DStv Mobile has officially introduced the iDrifta, a brand new, convenient and easy-to-use device that is set to enhance mobile TV viewing on popular Apple mobile devices.  Building on the ongoing success of the Drifta, Drifta USB and Walka, DStv Mobile, the iDrifta is an addition to DStv Mobile’s range of innovative devices.  Speaking at the launch at the Apple Shop in the Accra Mall, the General Manager of Multichoice Ghana, Mr Cecil Sunkwa-Mills explained: “The iDrifta is a plug and play mobile DVB-H receiver specifically designed for Apple mobile devices. It is portable and lightweight, and will allow users with Apple devices to enjoy all of the great entertainment they’ve come to expect from DStv Mobile.” Compatible with the iPod 4th generation, iPhone 4/4S and iPad 1/2/3, the iDrifta is simple and intuitive to use.  After plugging it into your iOS device, the application opens automatically and you can start watching DStv Mobile right away. The iDrifta uses DStv Mobile’s DVB-H signal – currently the most-cutting edge broadcast technology on the market in terms of handheld devices. The device additionally boasts a battery life of 3.5 hours. This means that viewers with Apple mobile devices can now access DStv Mobile’s full range of channels anywhere, anytime. This product comes just after a successful channel restructuring and price reduction of the DStv Mobile bouquets.  New channels now available on the i-Drifta include Nat Geo Wild, Africa Magic Family and the enhanced Super Sport Select at an unbelievable monthly subscription. The monthly subscription for the 14 channel Maxi bouquet is GHC 8 a month whilst the Mini bouquet with 12 channels is GHC6.  This is nearly half the previous subscription price. This move to restructure the bouquets came after conducting consumer research in the last few months across Africa and consolidating valuable feedback from subscribers. DStv Premium subscribers do not pay any fees for accessing DStv Mobile as the Mobile feed is an added benefit for being a premium subscriber. The iDrifta device will be available exclusively to the Apple Shop and from MultiChoice service centres, select retail outlets and online stores.   Mr. Timothy Melling, Manager for Apple Shop said he was excited about the partnership with DStv Mobile and called on Apple users and prospective users to  get iDrifta to enjoy quality entertainment on the go. ]]>
