Women’s football in Ghana has recently seen a revitalizing boost. For a long time, Women’s Football in the country had taken the back bench as stakeholders poured investments exclusively into the Men’s leagues & tournaments.

In today’s modern world where inclusion is the underlying thread in sports we find that our Ghanaian female soccer players are not being left out.

The GARFA (Greater-Accra Regional Football Association) Women’s Tournament is the beginning of many such games and activities set out to highlight and ignite the passion for women’s football.

This years tournament is sponsored by Pulse Communications Limited; a production & advertising firm in Accra, Ghana.

The tournament hosts 12 teams in total across 2 groups battling it out for the ultimate prize of Champions.

Teams from all across the country have been listed to participate in this year’s competition.

Mr Cyril Gockel, CEO of Pulse Communications Limited, in a statement, said that the vision for sponsoring the league was to showcase the potential & viability of Women’s Football In Ghana.

He stated this was in a bid to attract the dearly needed resources and investments needed to bring the great potential of the game to fruition.

“We hear a lot of big brands investing in sports and such but it seems nobody in Ghana believes in Women’s Football anymore. It’s become some sad joke.  So we at Pulse Communications decided to invest our capabilities in this particular tournament and be the much needed support they need. We promote brands for a living and we believe Womens Soccer in Ghana is a brand worth promoting. There’s so much potential.  So far it’s been a great process and the GRFA have been supportive and forthcoming. This has made our intentions much easier to actualise”

As part of the vision for inclusion, all matches are being streamed online for free via www.mycujoo.tv .

This is in direct partnership with one of the participating teams that’s spearheading innovation in Women’s Football.

This is a first of it’s kind in Ghanaian football and is an innovation that will be expanded to include all matches in the future.

Speaking to the founder of one of the competing teams, Ms. Cleopatra Nsiah-Nketiah of Ridge City FC Women, she stated that

a big hinderance in the growth of Women’s Football in Ghana has been media coverage. That’s the main driving force behind the vision to

engage www.myCujoo.tv to provide world-class streaming services for all matches in the GRFA Womens Tournament & beyond.

“We chose to start with this women’s tournament to establish ourselves as well as introduce football fans to the capabilities of online soccer streaming

in Ghana. Sure, people stream other international matches but nobody’s paying attention to our local football content – Let alone the Womens League

and that’s the void we are Ridge City are filling now thanks to our engagements with MyCujoo & Pulse Communications”

Pulse Communications has in the past been involved in innovative projects such as Social Media Week, The Millennium Marathon among others.
