Femi Kuti, son of the legendary Nigerian afrobeat singer, Fela Kuti thrilled fans in Accra over the weekend as he headlined the third edition of the Alomo Bitters African Legends Night. With his usual message songs, raw African rhythms and exciting dancers on stage, Femi entertained his guests which included former first lady, Konadu Agyemang Rawlings for well over an hour.
Also performing on the night were Ghanaian music legends Amakye Dede and George Darko who have almost 7 decades of experience between them. They thrilled guests with their classic hit songs that saw wild and exciting dance moves on the dance floor. There were also performances from the sultry soul and jazz singer, Ofie Kudjo, highlife veteran Ben Brako, as well as eclectic Ghanaian rapper, Trigmatic. The event was hosted by ace satirist, Kweku Sintim-Misa (KSM).
For the past 2 years, the Alomo Bitters African Legends Night has celebrated musical icons from the continent and carved an event niche catered to the middle-aged and the young who have a soft spot for local African music. Notable performers have included South Africa’s legend and first headliner of the concert, Hugh Masekela, Ghanaian ace Saxophonist Steve Bedi, Ben Brako, among others and a blend of artistes across Africa. Every year, the Alomo Bitters African Legends Night houses and entertains 1,000s of fans with soothing, exciting, danceable African tunes.
