First ever Ghanaian spoken word/ poetry compilation, 'Vocal Portraits' out now!!!
Vocal Portraits is the first ever spoken word/ poetry compilation to involve as many spoken word artists/ poets; it consists of 20 masterpieces by 15 artists including intro, outro and a skit.
Vocal Portraits, meaning a picture/ drawing of voices is a collection of masterpieces with themes ranging from life, love, peace, inspiration, black consciousness, religion, experience, history, principles of self preservation, poetry treated as a topic and more. The vocal delivery on the album ranges from recitals to original spoken word and a short fusion of rhythmic rap attached to instrumentals, live guitar or African instruments like the kora and calabash, as well as an a-cappella skit.
Most of the artists involved are of Ghanaian origin and part of the renowned group People of Equal Thoughts and Spirits;. Included also are two Europeans; Aqua Stuzenaite and Anastasia Karklina as well as an American; Tiffany Howard.
All the recordings were produced by Kwame Write under the supervision of record label Inkfluence Multi and recorded and compiled by sound engineers; Drumnayshin and Boney at 21 Entertainment Studios, Tema.
Lately, poetry/spoken word is on the rise in the entertainment industry of Ghana and recently at a seminar for artists put up by P.O.E.T.S. called Ministry of Poetry, Kofi Beatmenace; a renowned Ghanaian sound engineer pointed out that audio collections of this kind will profoundly serve as a mouthpiece for artists and shape the creative arts industry.
