Francis Afful Gyan Speaks on Veunex At 2024 World Telecommunication and Information Society Day

The Business Development manager for Reservoir Management Group (RMG), Francis Afful Gyan, on Friday, May 17, 2024, detailed the benefits of the company’s digital flagship innovation, Veunex, an Artificial Intelligence Software System tailored for Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSE).

Speaking during the 2024 World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) Under the theme: Digital Innovation for Sustainable Development, Mr Afful Gyan made know how his outfit uses digital Innovations solutions like Veunex to promote health, safety and security in the workplace.

 
He explained that Veunex integrates cutting-edge AI algorithms, machine vision, big data analytics combined with industry regulations, company policies and procedures to proactively detect and mitigate safety risks in real-time.
The Business Development manager further noted that By leveraging data from existing CCTV cameras and sensors, Veunex continuously monitors the workplace identifies potential hazards and triggers timely interventions to ensure a safer environment for all employees and safeguard properties for operational efficacy.
“As a small and medium enterprise dedicated to providing digital innovations solutions that promote health, safety and security in the workplace, I am delighted to share our journey with you. At the heart of our solution lies Veunex, An Artificial Intelligence Software System tailored for Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSE),” he said.
Mr. Afful went on to explain how Veunex directly address challenges at the workplace by revolutionizing traditional safety practices, unlike reactive approaches that respond to incidents after they occur, – historical approach.

“Workplace safety is a pressing global concern with millions of workers affected by occupational accidents and work-related illness each year. According to the International Labour Organization (ILO) approximately 340 million occupational accidents, 160 million victims of work-related illnesses, 2.78 million workers lose their lives annually due to workrelated incidents. These highlights the critical need for innovative solution like Veunex.

“Moreover, the economic impact of workplace accidents and injuries is staggering amount to around 4% of global GDP or USD2.8 trillion, being lost to direct and indirect costs of accidents and diseases. Research published by the European Centre for Research Training and Development (UK) led by Dr. Maxwell Asumeng, of University of Ghana came to light a total of 8,692 (Eight thousand, six hundred and ninety-two) work related accidents were reported in 2000 here in Ghana,” he stated

He continued by saying; “Mr. Francis Bibuksi, the principal labour officer at the Labour Development last year disclosed, 1,786 people suffered injuries and 60 passing away in 2023. 37 perished, with 1,006 injuries in 2022, 23 and 780 died and injured respectively in 2021.”
The event, which was held at the NCA Tower, was climaxed with a flag hoisting ceremony at the NCA premises led by the Hon. Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, and supported by Carl Ampah of the UNESCO Country Office and the Board Chairman of NCA, Okatakyie Ababio Boakye Danquah II.
