GHAMRO To Sue Akosua Adjepong For Spreading ‘false Rumors’ – Diana Hopeson
The Ghana Music Rights Organization(GHAMRO) has announced its intention to file a lawsuit against renowned Ghanaian musician, Akosua Adjepong for spreading false statements about the organization.
This was revealed by Gospel singer, Diana Hopeson, who is a member of the board of GHAMRO during an interview on Rainbow Entertainment.
The decision comes after the music legend made several allegations against the group and its activities. GHAMRO, a collective management organization responsible for collecting and distributing royalties on behalf of Ghanaian crooners, has been operating for years to ensure that artistes receive fair compensation for their work. However,Akosua Adjepong’s recent accusations have put the organisation’s reputation at risk.
In a series of interviews, the ‘Kokooko’ hitmaker, claimed that the organization mismanaged funds, withheld royalties from musicians, and engaged in corrupt practices. These allegations have caused significant harm to GHAMRO’s credibility and the trust it has built with its memebers.

According to Diana, the allegations by some of GHAMROâs members most especially Akosua Adjepong has contributed to the current woes of the delay of its licence to operate. She explained by saying, âAside from that, some members who continue to spread false rumours about the organisation will continue to make false claims. Some of them, notably Akosua Adjepong, advise businesses not to pay royalties. It demonstrates her aversion to GHAMRO. She is the greatest person to explain to you what she is doing and why she is doing it. GHAMRO is prepared to go to court this time because whatever she is doing is impacting GHAMRO.”
The board member to a greater extent stated that, âAkosua  keeps spreading false rumours that we are operating illegally, so we are prepared to take her on legally. She wants to be in charge, therefore she is on a mission to ruin us, but when elections come around, she does not file to run. She is also aware that what she does disqualifies her because our laws state that dragging the name of the organisation through the dirt may result in a penalty, which is why she rarely files. We have repeatedly requested that she appear before us to reply to matters, but she has failed to do so. Unfortunately, she is not interested in the organisationâs success.”
