Ghanaian Whiz kids launch Africa’s answer to whatsapp, Saya!

saya foundersGhanaian mobile messaging technology company, Saya Mobile has unveiled its flagship product, Saya which will surely put some fun into the way we send messages at a rather cost-effective rate. Speaking at  the ‘techie’ launch at Golden Tulip, Robert Nii Lante Lamptey , Saya’s Chief Executive Officer, stated that, the mobile App was created to leverage on existing mobile technology like SMS to deliver a mobile messaging service that will be far cheaper than the current cost of SMS adding that, Saya is 1000 times cheaper than SMS, as it brings to mobile users a chat application that will enable them stay in touch with their phone contacts by sending unlimited messages and images to them at a fraction of the cost of a single SMS. Badu Boahen Amankwaa , Chief Technology Officer and Co-founder of Saya Mobile, stated that, Saya has been designed for all categories of mobile phone users stressing that the application can work on some of the lower end phones. Badu also stressed that, Saya makes it possible for mobile phone users to chat with their facebook contacts and join in a location based chat with other people around a user’s location- this feature he added is called ‘Street Chat’. Users can discover all this and more features by freely downloading the application via www.saya.im/m Saya Mobile is an angel funded technology startup founded 6 months ago by two graduates from the Meltwater Enterpreneurial School of Technology. The founders, Robert Nii Lante Lamptey and Badu Boahen Amankwaa Akwasi have degrees in Computer Science and Business Administration from the University of Cape-Coast and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology respectively. Prior to founding Saya, the two have been working together, building enterprise applications for desktop, web and mobile but finally decided to stick with mobile because of the sheer size of the market and the demands for mobile applications.]]>
