Streemio Technologies, ran by a team of young and innovative Ghanaians, is set to commence the operation of Ghana’s first mobile music streaming service that would revolutionize the way we listen to music, and give a new meaning to the expression ‘music on the go’!
The service, Streemio is expected to start running publicly from December 23 and once it is operational, the public can download the application onto their mobile phones (via m.streemio.com), follow a simple installation process and registration and then start enjoying a playlist of local and international music live on their phones.
The mobile music service will not only provide a platform for music fans to legally enjoy and ‘share’ the works of their favourite musicians but will also provide Ghanaian musicians the opportunity to interact with their fans and track information on which of their songs their fans are listening to the most. Streemio will delight its users with a personalized medium to choose what songs they listen to at any time, and allows users to be their own DJ, without the hassle of owning the music collection to play from. Because all song plays are user requested, Streemio will help establish the unbiased popularity of artistes and their works.
Music lovers who want to use Streemio will simply download a FREE mobile application unto their internet capable phones with decent multimedia features, and with that, have access to a world of local and foreign music on the go! Streemio is a piracy free service and will help promote the culture of paying royalties in the country as it provides a new revenue generation model for Copy Right Society of Ghana.
Also, Streemio’s personalized music service means users are constantly engaged; a condition for effective advertising. Based on basic biographical information (such as age group, gender, interests, location, etc.), gathered from users at the time of signing up for the service and the partner operator, Streemio will serve out audio ads that are relevant to each individual, increasing the probability of eliciting the desired response to the advertiser’s message. Audio ads on Streemio are accompanied by a product image or logo of the company to simulate an audio-visual experience.
Founded in January 2010 by Samuel Darko and Francis Ahose, Streemio Technologies is a Ghanaian software start-up, developing mobile software and services for high-growth mobile telephony markets. The company, which received seed funding from the Meltwater Foundation, hopes that its Streemio service would become a pan-African mobile music streaming service, starting from Ghana.
