Gidochi wins Nescafe One Song Challenge

Signed unto Supernova Records, Gidochi born Gideon Alabi has been crowned the winner of the Nescafe One Song Challenge which took off several months ago.

Nescafe One Song is a music contest that provides a platform for contestants to create and send messages of positivity through music. The aim is to encourage the public or musicians to spread positivity at all times, by writing their own inspirational lyrics to inspire hope and connect with the indomitable spirit to all of West Africa.

After releasing his first official single “With You” in June last year, he shot into fame in 2018 with the release of the popular “Fa Ma Me” song with label mate “Jetey” which later saw a remix with Sarkodie.

Gidochi after receiving overwhelming feedback for his first solo single “With You” dished out a sequel “High With Me” which featured the Bhimnation boss Stonebwoy as his second official single.

He participated in the competition with over 5000 other entries and beat Spooky and Kobi in the final selection to win $3000 and a recording session.

Gidochi is a Social Work and Sociology graduate of the University Of Ghana Legon. Born on July 27, the young Ghanaian singer is a versatile artiste whose core is rooted in Afrobeats, Highlife and Soul Music.

With his unique songwriting skills and vocal dexterity, he has worked with the likes of Sarkodie, and the Bhum nation boss stonebwoy

Shatta Wale arrested over fake shooting

Police Have Arrested Charles Nii Armah Mensah Populary Known as Shatta Wale.

A statement published by the Ghana Police Service reads:

After we publicly declared him and one other person wanted, the suspect, Shatta Wale, turned himself in today Tuesday 19th October, 2021, at 8.59pm.

He has been arrested to assist the Police in investigations for his alleged involvement in the creation and circulation of information intended to cause fear and panic.

As stated in previous statements, the public is advised to desist from publishing false information, capable of disturbing the peace of the country or risk being arrested and prosecuted.

Police arrests Nana Dope and one other over spreading fake news about Shatta Wale shooting

Two in Police Custody for Spreading False Information in Connection with Alleged Gunshot Attack on Shatta Wale. A statement released by the Ghana Police Service read:

The Police have today, 19th October, 2021, arrested Kojo Owusu Koranteng, also known as Nana Dope and Eric Venator, alias Gangee, for allegedly spreading false information with the intention to cause fear and panic.
The arrest of the suspects is in response to the alleged circulation of false claims on the alleged gunshot attack on Shatta Wale.
Preliminary investigations by the Police reveal the widely reported gunshot attack on Shatta Wale yesterday Monday, 18th October, 2021 was a hoax.
Shatta Wale and one other person popularly referred to as ‘Deportee’ are currently being pursued for their possible involvement and knowledge of the circulation of false information with the intention to cause fear and panic.
No one will be spared if Police investigations point to their possible criminal culpability in this matter.
We want to caution any individual or group to desist from making false claims and engaging in acts, capable of disturbing the peace of the country because the law will come after you.

The Ghana Police service has announced that comedian Funny Face is in their custody for allegedly threatening some individuals.

The service made this announcement via their social media outlets saying:

“Funny Face in Police Custody for Allegedly Threatening Some Individuals. The Police have today, Monday, 18th October, 2021, at 10:14 pm arrested Benson Nana Yaw Oduro Boateng, popularly known as Funny Face for allegedly threatening certain individuals via some Social Media platforms. Due to the history of the suspect, the police shall submit Benson Nana Yaw Oduro Boateng to the court for an order for psychiatric examination, to determine the next line of investigative action.”

Mona4Real wins ‘Uncovered Artist’ of the Year, her first award for music

Mona Montrage aka Hajia4Real/ Mona4Real has received her first music award at the just ended Ghana Music Awards UK. She won the nod for Uncovered Artist of The Year.

Even though she came to the music scene not long ago, Hajia4Real has proven she is in to stay. She has so far released 4 songs and it has more than 100k views on YouTube and all music platforms.

Performing at the Ghana Music UK awards were acts like Medikal, Irene Logan, Jackie, Kofi Jamar, Hajia4Real and many more.

Hajia4Real surprised the audience with her  stage performance. For someone who is still young in the music industry, she really did well to win hearts.

When someone dies, you now hear the wicked, hypocrite DJs playing his songs — Roo Dube vex over Nana Ampadu’s death

Reggae artiste, Roo Dube has lambasted Ghanaian DJ’s with the accusation that they only wait for Ghanaian musicians to die before they celebrate them.

According to him, the passing of the legendary highlife musician Nana Kwame Ampadu saw almost all DJs who did not play his songs when he was alive now abusively play his songs on radio stations.

“When the artiste dies, switch to all radio stations in Ghana. You will hear of the music of the deceased.

“You mark this, if the confirmation comes that Nana Ampadu is dead, all radio stations will play his songs tomorrow. If Ghana was to be another country, the music of Nana Ampadu should be able to feed his son and grandchildren for all their lives. But it is not the case in Ghana,” Roo Dube lamented in an interview with Modernghana Entertainment.

The Reggae artist insists that radio stations and DJs in Ghana are so wicked and should even be partially blamed for the death of some of the old musicians.

“These stations don’t care about us the musicians. Ghanaian DJ’s are very wicked. If they continuously played the music of old musicians, it could even encourage people to go and donate to our musicians who may be in need of money or support one way or the other,” he stated.

Expecting radio stations in the country to play songs of Nana Ampadu on Wednesday in his memory, Roo Dube says if he was a family member of the deceased, he would have sued the radio stations playing his songs.

He stressed that it’s about time Ghanaian stations and DJs followed in the steps of Nigeria by prioritizing local music over foreign music.

He said rarely will one hear of Ghanaian music on radio stations when he or she travels to Nigeria or any other part of the world, but it is not the same in Ghana.
