Gov't supports AFRIMA with $4.5 Million for 3 years- Tourism Minister reveals

<![CDATA[[caption id="attachment_134027" align="alignnone" width="640"] catherine afeku[/caption] The Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Catherine Afeku, has disclosed that the government is throwing in an amount of $ 4.5 million to support the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) which is happening in the country from the 21st of November – 24th November, 2018. Speaking on Hitz FM on Friday, November 23, 2018, Mrs. Afeku said that Ghana hosting the 5th AFRIMA is an opportunity to boost  tourism and creative arts. She also revealed that Ghana will be hosting for 3 years. “Government is supporting the event with $4.5 million for the three years but for this year, we are spending $ 700,000,” she said According to her, the governments promise to invest in Tourism and the Creative Arts has seen it funding festivals like the ChaleWote festival. She also added that the  Ghana Music Awards, amongst others will also receive funding. AFRIMA  is an annual award show which was launched in 2014 to celebrate African Creative excellence. The main event which is the awards show will be held tomorrow, 24th November, 2018 at the Accra International Conference Centre.]]>
