“Focus on the show not the budget allocated for it”- Tourism minister on Ghana hosting AFRIMA 2018

As Ghana prepares to host the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) for the first time, the minister in charge of the Creative Arts and Tourism ministry, Madam Catherine Afeku, has stated that calls on her ministry to disclose the amount of money the government is investing in hosting the event is unnecessary.

In an interview on Hitz FM’s ‘Daybreak Hitz’ today, Madam Afeku described the question posed by host Andy Dosty, about the amount involved in hosting the show as “irrelevant”. According to her, the call for her to disclose the budget is just like asking musician D-Black, the amount he received for performing at the Kundum Festival as an artist and categorically stated that such calls are totally lame.

She, however, used the opportunity to call on Ghana’s entertainment industry players, who are seeking to get some value for money accountability from the creative arts industry to focus on making the show a success rather than being concerned about its budget.
