<![CDATA[The 2017 edition of Starr FM’s annual concert has become, possibly, the most eventful one yet. Dancehall artiste Samini has expressed his disappointment in what took place at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday. Samini was at the Accra Sports Stadium, prepared to entertain the crowd but something happened on the night which stopped him from mounting stage. Samini in a video, posted on his Facebook page, explained his reasons for the no-show at the S Concert. Samini disclosed that the event organisers gave him 1:30 AM but he was at backstage for almost four hours after the stipulated time without any explanation from them. He said: “I don’t normally complain like this but guess what, this is getting out of hand. I’m sorry to the fans who came out to the stadium to see me but I’m not doing the show and I’ve left the stadium. we have to stick to, we have to make sure organisers communicate right with the artiste. you don’t keep me backstage almost four hours and have me wait for people to take turns on stage while I still sit backstage without knowing what to do. So basically, my call time was 1:30 and I stayed backstage till 4 o’clock and I had to leave.” Also speaking on Peace FM, Samini said that Shatta Wale’s miming at the concert was a fraudulent act. He later dared his archrival, Shatta Wale to play with a live band instead of always singing along with a CD. Meanwhile a video of Shatta Wale slapping his bodyguard, for allowing a fan to grab him on stage, has also hit the web. https://youtu.be/VnhIC39KYp4 Gospel singer, Joyce Blessing has also not had it easy after her performance at the show. She has received lots of backlash for performing songs of other musicians, especially that LilWin who was also billed to perform at the same event. Joyce Blessing, in addition to her songs, entertained the crowd with ‘Fada Fada’ by Nigerian musician Phyno and LilWin‘s ‘Ladder’. Social media users have questioned why she would perform ‘Ladder’ when she knew very well that Lilwin, who owns the song, was also on the bill for the show.

Over 50 acts performed on the night as promised by organisers, including sensational sets by the likes of Gospel acts Joyce Blessing and Gifty Osei, rapper Obibini, A.I, B4Bonah, Kumi Guitar, King Jerry, boxer Bukom Banku, 4X4 member Captain Planet, Edem, Stonebwoy, Fancy Gadam, Ras Kuuku, and Shatta Wale. Due to constrains experienced by organisers regarding time, highly- anticipated acts Samini, Mr. Eazi, and “bad girl’ Ebony were unable to perform. The concert was compered by a sterling line-up of hosts from the EIB Network: Jason, Giovani Caleb, Sammy B, KOD among others. See images below: ]]>
