Huawei has launched a new mid-entry level smartphone; the HUAWEI Y7p, a stylish addition to the HUAWEI Y Series. Equipped with a bevy of upgrades and a 48MP AI Triple Camera, the HUAWEI Y7p makes for a truly compelling choice for value-seeking consumers.

An all-round photograph experience with a 48MP AI Triple Camera

The HUAWEI Y7p offers a rear AI triple-camera setup that includes a 48MP main camera with an f/1.8 wide-aperture lens for capturing frame-worthy moments in true, native high resolution, an 8MP ultra-wide angle camera supporting 120-degree field of view for scenic landscape shots, group photos and wide-angle video capture, and a 2MP depth assist camera for simulating realistic shallow depth-of-field effects that are a staple of any breath-taking portraits.

Equipped with a large 1/2-inch sensor, the HUAWEI Y7p also excels in low light scenarios, producing clear, low noise images that are rich with colours and details whether the user is shooting in broad daylight or at night. Night Mode also makes a return, supporting stabilisation for handheld shots taken with up to a six-second exposure for easy detail-packed low-light shots.

Upon detecting that the user is shooting with backlight, the camera will turn on HDR Mode, which can combine three frames taken in quick succession to create a stunning photo that has a higher dynamic range. Like many other Huawei smartphones, HUAWEI Y7p also features AI Scene Recognition, enabling the rear cameras to recognise over 500 scenes and apply real-time custom enhancement to turn works of novices into masterpieces. Additionally, 480fps video capture enables users to capture slow-motion videos that play back at 1/16 normal speed.

Embedded underneath the Punch FullView display is a powerful 8MP front camera that supports Huawei’s camera AI algorithms. Portrait Mode[1] produces gorgeous photos and selfies by applying custom optimisations based on a subject’s face while retaining the details on their faces. Additionally, the front camera supports HDR Mode for stunning selfies in high dynamic range. The front camera uses AI Scene Recognition which enable it to recognize up to eight scenes including blue sky, plants, night scene and more, optimizing the settings required for the perfect shot.

In addition, the front camera supports Face Unlock 2.0 for speedy device unlock

Trendy Design with a 6.39’’ Punch Fullview Display

Designed to be a showstopper, the HUAWEI Y7p is equipped with a gorgeous Punch FullView Display. Measuring at 6.39 inches diagonally and with thin bezels, the 19.5:9 display supports a HD+ resolution of 1560×720 for displaying fine details with vivid clarity. At the top left corner is one of the industry’s smallest blind holes – measuring at just 4.5mm wide – providing an opening for the front camera with minimal compromise in the viewing experience. With a 90 per cent screen-to-body ratio[2], the display makes watching any video and gaming an absolute joy. Additionally, HUAWEI Y7p has a fingerprint scanner at the back to provide another convenient and secure means for device unlock.

The back of HUAWEI Y7p is layered on top a reflective layer to produce a futuristic glare effect. The mid-frame seamlessly connects the two sides, producing a streamlined, uni-body look that is both aesthetically pleasing and makes for a more comfortable grip.

The smartphone comes in classic Midnight Black and unique Aurora Blue colours. The Aurora Blue variant uses blue and green gradients to create a distinguishable and fashionable look.

HUAWEI Y7p offers a triple-card tray that includes two slots for Dual SIM support and one for storage expansion via MicroSD card of up to 512GB[3].

Strong performance

Running easy-to-use intelligent EMUI9.1 on Kirin 710F with an integrated octa-core processor, the HUAWEI Y7p delivers a smooth experience across productivity and entertainment apps. The latest HUAWEI Y Series device also includes system-level optimisations such as the Extendable Read-Only File System (EROFS) and Full Scene Acceleration technology for better system, storage and app performances.

The HUAWEI Y7p also comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage which can be expanded to 512GB with a micro SD card (sold separately).

With a large 4000mAh (typical value) battery and Huawei’s AI power saving technology, the smartphone offers a reliable long battery life, ideal for those that are always on the go.

Smart features for a Smart Experience

Built for gamers, the GPU Turbo 3.0 feature on the HUAWEI Y7p boosts performance by enhancing graphics for a more immersive gaming experience.

Additional smart features also include video reminding for incoming calls, which lets you add a unique video ringtone for your friends. Meanwhile, the HUAWEI 9.1 SKY stereo sound, optimizes the audio experience

Pre-installed with HUAWEI AppGallery

At the core of HUAWEI Y7p are Huawei Mobile Services (HMS), which include a range of essential smartphone features including the Huawei AppGallery, an app marketplace from which users can easily download apps.

Published

DR KASSER TEE

The Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG), has launched the 33rd CIMG Annual National Marketing Performance Awards, which was held at the Coconut Grove Hotel in Accra. The event took a hybrid form with virtual and in-person attendees.

In his welcome address, the Registrar of the CIMG, Mr. Kwabena Agyekum said, “The success of these awards has gone beyond the event itself. Many businesses have now redeveloped their corporate strategies and significantly changed their business operating models, enabling them to be marketing-oriented by meeting the key requirements of market focus, integrated marketing, long term profitability, and customer and competitor orientation.”

In his opening remarks, the National Vice-President of CIMG and Chairman of the Awards Planning and Selection Committee, Mr. Theodore Osae, lauded the CIMG for its historic accomplishments in previous awards ceremonies.

“There is no denying that the scheme has incredibly evolved into what could be considered Ghana’s benchmark awards scheme. As we take delight in the successes achieved by our awards, I wish to boldly say that the CIMG takes pride in the several landmark accomplishments, which have greatly contributed towards improvements in organisational and professional performances, and especially, for practicing Marketers,” Mr. Osae said.

Being mindful of these achievements, the Institute has resolved to keep the stakes as high and as relevant as possible so that the standards, by which CIMG assesses individual and corporate performances, are not compromised.

The institute, for the past few years, has adopted the online system of completing the awards questionnaire by nominees as well as online assessment for the judges, who are chosen from various sectors of the corporate world. This set up has made it easy for CIMG to continue to drive a rigorous process whilst maintaining its stringent standards.

The Awards cover six major competitive areas, namely: Hall of Fame, Personality, Media and Marketing Communications organisations, Business organisations, Products, and Not-for-Profit organisations.

There is a non-competitive award category known as the CIMG President’s Special awards which are given to noticeable female and male achievers in any endeavour, or a business entity or product or service that has positively contributed to national progress.

Mr Osae indicated that “the judges and assessors for the year’s event will devote time and attention to ensure the success of the 33rd CIMG Awards, as it represents Ghana’s benchmark awards ceremony.”

The criteria for selecting the winners and benchmarking their performance will include:

  1. Marketing Metrics including awareness, numeric distribution (where appropriate) and others
  2. Marketing Innovation

III.       Technological Innovation

  1. Segmentation, Targeting and Positioning (STP)
  2. Social Impact
  3. Contribution to National Development

VII.      Public Image

VIII.     Success in the Market Place

  1. Market Share
  2. Customer Service Orientation
  3. Ecological and Ethical Issues

XII.      Competitor Orientation

Launching the awards ceremony, the National President of CIMG, Dr. Kasser Tee, urged organisations “to refrain from cutting marketing budgets in hard times, as effective deployment of marketing communications is necessary for stimulating demand for their products.”

Dr. Kasser Tee added that organisations must re-examine their marketing mix elements and ensure an optimal blend for organisational success. He explains that “in the same way that you cannot do without products, or pricing, or distribution, so must you not cut promotion or marketing communications budget. You must however spend in critical areas, using the most critical, influential and most cost-effective media vehicles. You must differentiate your corporate and product brands to enable them stand out in the midst of intense competition and low consumption.”

He further encouraged all corporate organisations “to pay attention to some of the very key pillars of marketing that guarantee effective performance, by way of growing market shares, revenues and profits in these difficult times.”

For 32 years, CIMG has consistently held the Annual National Marketing Performance Awards with the upcoming one being the 33rd edition
