Watch: I don’t feel any pressure to get married – AJ Sarpong.

With a job which is open to public eyes, the pressures from Ghanaian audiences for female media personalities to settle down at a certain age is high. However, 27 year-old Citi FM host AJ Akuoko- Sarpong says she has never experienced such societal pressures.

The ‘Hall Of Fame’ host speaking to Ameyaw TV’s JQ, explained she has never experienced any form of pressure since she grew through all the ranks in her field of work and that allowed her to prove herself and get to the top.

Responding to the question, she said: “I have been doing this for very long, 11 years now, I started very young so when I was moving up the ladder I didn’t have any pressure. I was 18, 20, 22, 25 and now I’m 27 so I’ve not had pressure because of the age I started thankfully.
When I decide that at 30, 35 or 40 I want to start a family there’s no rule that can prevent me.”

She however noted that: “There are a lot of pressures that come with being a female who’s excelling. But we’ve seen a lot of women from Oheneyere, Nana Ama McBrown to others who are telling you that NO, that societal myth is a lie.
I can be at 40 or 45 and then decide to have a family or be able to decide not to marry and have kids.”
