Ghanaian actress and television presenter, Nana Ama McBrown has asserted that although the glory days of the Kumasi-based movie industry are over, it played a major role in Ghana’s film industry.

Speaking to Abeiku Santana on Okay FM’s drive-time show, Mr’s Mensah was arguing comments that she should have done more English-speaking movies than Kumawood movies.

In her defense, she stated that when the English-speaking actors like Jackie Appiah and Lydia Forson left for Nollywood, it was the Kumawood actors who sustained the Ghana film industry from collapsing.

Speaking in Twi, she said: “When the movie industry nearly collapsed, the English-speaking actors were nowhere to be found. Thanks to Miracle Films, Mercy Aseidu, Agya Koo, and myself were able to hold the front”

The McBrown Kitchen host proudly attributed her success in the entertainment industry to her strides in the Kumawood.
