Ghanaian Afropop and R&b singer, Camidoh has disclosed that his song ‘‘Sugarcane’’ did not become a hit by luck.

In an interview on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz Show, the singer revealed that he really sacrificed and invested in the song to make it a hit.

According to Camidoh, he believes marketing and selling is one major factor and characteristic that can push music and make it a big hit but some Ghanaian musicians do not consider that.

“Myself I just decided that you know what, ‘‘Sugarcane’’ is a beautiful record and we are taking all the money from the bank, taking money from, investment, promote it, Tiktok how much, this person how much, do the job and the job was done,” he explained.

“So that means that not everything is based on luck, let nobody come tell you oh this one, its not his time to blow, no. Marketing is taking the product and making it number one, like you take it to the face of people and let them fall in love with it.

” This phone is not the best phone but iPhone will market it and make it look like iPhone pictures is nicer than the others and that is my state of mind right now and I feel like we need to be intentional with everything’’, Camidoh added.

Camidoh’s big breakthrough came in December 2021 when he released the viral hit single, “Sugarcane”. The song shot Camidoh to stardom and when the chart topping “Sugarcane” remix featuring King Promise, Mayorkun and Darkoo dropped in April 2022. It became an instant hit and topped various music charts.
