It’s imperative we teach history to our children – Mendeecees Harris on holiday in Ghana with family

‘Love & Hip Hop’ star Mendeecees Harris, who spent Christmas in Ghana with his wife Yandy Smith and their four children, has explained why the trip was important in an Instagram post.
He wrote: “It’s imperative we teach history to our children..” in a caption for photos highlighting the family’s visit to the Elmina Castle.

His son, Mendeecees Harris Junior also shared a photo from the Kwame Nkrumah mausoleum saying: “New Year in Ghana – Accomplishing goals and exploring the rest of world all 2022”

Mendeecees Harris is a Former real estate entrepreneur, entertainment manager and rapper. He was born in Harlem, New York to Panamanian parents. He owns the Beat Factory Studio in The Bronx and manages several NYC-based rappers, such as Vado and Webstar. He has been in a relationship with Yandy Smith since 2008, and has two children from previous relationships, Lil Mendeecees, born to Samantha Wallace on October 9, 2005, and Aasim, born to Erika DeShazo on September 7, 2011. He also had a casual fling with Rashidah Ali, years before their appearance on the show together.

Mendeecees joins the supporting cast of Love & Hip Hop: New York in season three, which chronicles the birth of Omere, his first child with Yandy, and the couple’s engagement. However, later in the season, their wedding plans are interrupted when Mendeecees faces legal issues and is forced to turn himself into custody for multiple drug and trafficking charges. Mendeecees is locked up awaiting sentencing during season four, but continues to make appearances on the show via phone call conversations with Yandy. Mendeecees returns in season five after getting bail, and Yandy gives birth to their second child, Skylar.

On May 25, 2015, Yandy and Mendeecees were married live on VH1 as part of the special Love & Hip Hop Live: The Wedding.
In season six, Mendeecees is sentenced to eight years in jail and turns himself in again in the finale. While he is behind bars in season seven, Yandy admits that her televised wedding was “symbolic” and that her marriage to Mendeecees is not legal.

Mendeecees would continue to make appearances via phone call conversations with Yandy and other cast members during seasons seven, eight and nine, and in the special The Love Edition. He also appears in an episode of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta: After Party Live! with Yandy.
On January 29, 2020, Mendeecees was released from prison and in May 2021 he and Yandy renewed their vows in Dubai.

“ After winning the National Dance Championship in 1990 and 1995, I became addicted to drugs.
Whiles battling and seeking solutions to this canker of addiction, my mother walked to me one day and asked me to connect with God, else, I would not be able to enjoy life as I want.
I heeded her advice and, while on that task, I promised God if he could help deliver me from this shame, I will sing and shout to his glory. Thankfully, God fulfilled his part of the bargain and it is time to fulfill mine” he said.

AJ Sarpong to join Giovani Caleb on 3FM Drive

After news broke on the resignation of Radio and Television personality, AJ Sarpong from her job at Accra-based Citi FM and Citi TV, our sources have confirmed to us that she is heading to 3FM.
She is expected to join Giovani Caleb on the 3FM Drive program.
AJ Sarpong worked for the media outfit for almost 6 years; she hosted “Brunch In The Citi” on Citi FM and was also the host of “Hall of Fame” on Citi TV.
The news of her resignation is coming in on the morning of March 1, 2023 as reported by nydjlive.com.
AJ Sarpong joins a long list of media personalities who have left the media company in recent months, including Jessica Opare Saforo, Kojo Akoto Boateng, Olele Salvador, Kwame Dadzie, Fentuo Tahiru, and Daniel Koranteng.
AJ Sarpong previously worked for the EIB Network, where she hosted the daily entertainment segment on Starr FM’s Mid-Morning show, The Zone with Naa Ashorkor, as well as on TV with Kafui Dey and Baisiwaa on GH One TV’s morning show.
She has two Master’s degrees: one in Journalism from the Ghana Institute of Journalism and the other in Brands and Communication Management from the University of Professional Studies in Accra (UPSA).
