jay gharteyGhanaian -American artist, Jay Ghartey is set to perform live in New York City at the Nuyorican Club in downtown Manhattan, January 22.  He will be accompanied by a 7-piece band to present his hit songs including ‘My Lady’, ‘So Wild’ and others from his successful debut album, ‘Shining Gold’.

Fresh off his success in Ghana – winning the 2010 4syte Music Video Award for Best Male Video with ‘My Lady’  which become a nationwide anthem in 2010 -Jay is highly motivated to continue building momentum in 2011.

Jay Ghartey is determined to bring African music and beats into mainstream acceptance in the U.S and Europe. As such, he is very excited about the New York show because it is a stepping stone to making that dream a reality. He comments:  “Slowly but surely,  America is recognizing African talents and I have to play my part. I can’t wait to introduce so many of the talented artists and producers we have back home in Ghana to the American audiences. But first I have to rock the crowds with great live performances to set the standard and open doors for others.”

The New York City show would be at the Nuyorican Club on 236 3rd St between Avenue B and C , at 10pm. Heavy crowds are expected so early arrival is suggested.
