Junior Pope: AGN Suspends Riverine shoots; Declares Thursday, April 11 as ‘No Shoot Day’

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has announced the suspension of all film productions involving riverine areas and boat rides following the tragic boat accident that claimed the life of Nollywood actor Junior Pope and three crew members.

The guild, under the leadership of it’s National President, Emeka Rollas also declared Thursday, April 11, 2024 as a  “No Shoot Day” for all Nollywood filmmakers, following the deaths of actor Junior Pope and three other crew members who died in a boat mishap on Anam River in Anambra on Wednesday, April 10.

In his statement, Dr. Ejezie Emeka Rollas, the National President of AGN, expressed deep sorrow for the loss of lives and urged industry members to prioritize safety protocols during film productions. The guild continues its efforts to locate the bodies of the missing persons while honoring the memories of those who tragically lost their lives in the boat mishap.

“Following the tragic incident of a boat mishap that claimed the life of Junior Pope and three other crew members at waterside of River Niger Cable point Asaba on 10th of April, all films that involve riverine areas and boat riding is hereby suspended indefinitely.

“No Shoot on all locations nationwide on Thursday, April 11, 2024 and the film titled The Other Side of Life is suspended indefinitely. Also, no actor is allowed to work with Adamma Luke as a producer till further notice, while we keep searching for the bodies of the remaining persons. May their souls rest in peace,” he said.
