Over the weekend, Lynx Entertainment signee, Kuami Eugene was crowned the overall “Artist of the Year” at the 2020 edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. His crowning sparked some controversy as some section of Ghanaians believe he didn’t deserve the award. Several people have come out to criticize the VGMA board for not awarding the most deserving artiste. One of such people is rapper Guru who believes strongly that Sarkodie was more deserving of the award than Kuami Eugene.
Reacting to Guru’s statement in an interview on Hitz Fm yesterday, Kuami Eugene explained that Guru had his right to opinion. “If Sarkodie had won it, people would have said he doesn’t deserve it. If Kofi Kinaata had won it, people from Sark’s camp would have said he didn’t deserve it. And the same way you are saying it, there are a lot of people out there who are saying that finally this boy has gotten what he deserves. You have hidden it from him for long. “So like I’m saying, it’s both ways. No matter what this is Ghana. We are opinionated. People like to express themselves so I understand where Guru is coming from he has every right to express his opinion and if he feels that way, he has every right,” he stated. Watch video below:
