Zen June 2013 online cover 41The June cover of Zen Magazine features a Ugandan model based in the UK. The magazine includes loads of features this month including an Editorial feature on Ethiopian designer YEKIFIR.  Check out the Editor’s Note:

“Don’ t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.” This must be one of my favourite quotes from heavyweight Championship boxer Muhammad Ali. The reason why is because those words connect with what Zen has been built on “The never quit mentally to showcase Africa’s brightest talents from across the world“. 2013 has been an amazing year – in January, we featured the gorgeous Ayoola Bakare from Nigeria, in February, Melissa Kyelem from Burkina Faso, Marchwas amazing because we had the distinct pleasure of having former Miss South Africa Winner Jo-Ann Strauss which must be said is one of our favourite covers “it even got a RT on Twitter from Award winning international artist MC Hammer…. SO TRUE!!“. We then featured GhanaianHollywood actor Sam Sarpong on our April cover and have now just concluded our May cover with Ethiopian top model Mearg Tareke. With so much creativity and beauty right across Africa, our radars have finally landed in Uganda for our June 2013 digital cover. I met Tuma Keke Nissi about 4 months ago, and after a few chats, I knew she was incredibly passionate about modelling and has a constant desire to learn, grow and develop professionally. She is also a proud mother to an adorable daughter who we will talk about later this month. Tuma is a Ugandan fashion, editorial and commercial model based in the UK and this month, the spotlight is on her as she tells Zen how it feels to be an African model in the UK, her fashionstyle and more about her country Uganda. We have so many amazing stories this month from our feature on the top 10 African R&B singers of 2013, to our interviews with African celebritiesLoyiso from South Africa, Abby Plaatjes from Tanzania, Brenda Wairimu from Kenya andAdonis O’Holi from Sierra Leone. Top models on our radar this month are Donna Solomons, Nikia Phoenix and Alisha White. We also have an exclusive look into Ethiopian fashion label “YEFIKIR’s” latest collection and we bring to you all the exclusives from Africa Fashion Week New York as they prepare to host the world at their 2013 fashion show in July. It is another month full of exciting stories and I implore everyone who gets to view this cover to please comment on our work.. tell us what you think… we would love to hear from you. Communication is key if we are to be united. Let’s get talking!
