Maiden Ghana Academy Awards makes call for entry!

John Abeiku Sagoe , Chairman of the Ghana Academy Awards Planning Committee[/caption] The Ghanaian entertainment and creative industry can look forward to a healthy new addition on its award calendar this year. The maiden edition of the Ghana Academy Awards (GAA), which will be held on March 23, is among other things aimed at establishing a common platform which recognises key practitioners of the creative arts in Ghana. Chairman of the Ghana Academy Awards Planning Committee, Mr. John Abeiku Sagoe comments  “This event will hopefully raise standards in the industry and will foster industry cohesion and unity”. The Ghana Academy Awards 2013 is organised by Kaydm and it is recognised and supported by the Ghana Actors’ Guild and the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA).  The Ghana Academy Awards will recognize creative works and individuals in 18 categories including: Lifetime Achievement Award, Best Actor/Actress, Best Tv Series, Best Movie, Best Movie Producer, Best Music Producer, Comedian Of The Year. Best Music Artist, Best Music Video, Best Actor/Actress Supporting Role, Best Director, Best Music Album, Best Music, Best Stage Actor, Best Lyrics, Best Original Story, Best Choral Group, And Best Band. Nominations are hereby open to artists/producers of creative works that fit the above categories, and were released into the public domain between January 1 – December 31, 2012. Nominations can be sent to the event secretariat on the 7th floor, heritage towers, Accra or delivered to the MUSIGA or ACTORS’ GUILD offices in Accra for onward submission to the planning committee. Nominees will be invited to defend their works before the events planning committee while the public is also given the opportunity to vote for their favourite entries on short code 17 62.
