Ministry of Information launches “Amplified,” a social-media marketing project for the youth

The Ministry of Information, on Thursday, May 27th, 2021, launched “Amplified,” a social marketing project at the Alisa Hotel.

“Amplified” is a series of social marketing programs that are focused on using the New Media leverage of the Ministry of Information and association of program partners to support the work of young Ghanaians and to aid them in reaching larger audiences with entrepreneurial products/services social causes and youth mentorship and inspiring stories

Speaking at the event, the Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah stated that over the years, his ministry has built a strong social media presence to aid in government communication.

“In the last 3 years, we invested heavily the Ministry of Information invested heavily in growing its social media channels to support government communication. By 2020, the Ministry had a combined 1.2 million subscribers who directly received content from its new media handles. As a result, the Ministry has been exploring ways it can use this large social media following to serve the Ghanaian public in ways beyond Government communication.”

Amplified will be targeted at three main areas;

  1. Amplifed Business

Amplified Business will highlight products and services of young Ghanaian entrepreneurs doing business in Ghana. This is a collaborative drive by the Ministry of Information and  Ministry of Trade to highlight products and services of young Ghanaian entrepreneurs doing business in Ghana. This strategic approach is to enhance the market penetration efforts by these entrepreneurs in the face of keen competition from global companies.

Under this program the Minister for Information and the Minister for Trade will visit and interact with a young Ghanaian entrepreneur doing something of value.

2. Amplified Success

Amplified Success is a weekly conversation on career guidance, mentoring and leadership for the youth of Ghana.Through amplified success, the ministry on its social media channels will highlight stories and mentorship programs that will inspire and motivate the Ghanaian youth.

 3. Amplified Social

Amplified Social will focus on advocating human-centered issues, adding a stronger voice to the issues that confronts us. This will be done on the social media handles of the Ministry of Information. By amplifying these social causes, we expect that we can get more support and attention for the greater public good.   Social issues like autism, cerebral palsy among several others will be brought to the fore.

The six-month project is set start rolling on July 1st.
