With the release of his debut EP ‘’The Son of Raphael’’ ready for fan consumption, the Sabi Boy Entertainment (SBE) honcho talks with us about his music journey so far, how it feels to be a Nigerian artist in Ghanaian showbiz and what he has on the horizon for his growing fan base.

Since stepping foot on Ghanaian soil, Mr Mageek has been consistent with releases and has enjoyed success under the umbrella of singles like ‘Same People’, ‘Otirikonkon’ and ‘Screensaver’ – the latter two featuring our very own, Gemini and Kesse.

As Mr Mageek pushes on to establish his brand in West Africa’s busy music scene, his new 9-track EP is set to officially reintroduce him with easy-going concepts, digestible rhyme schemes and a swagger that’s infectiously good.

Dive into the brief interview below.

1. So. your debut EP ‘’The Son of Raphael’’ is finally out. How would you describe it to fans?

‘’The Son of Raphael’’ is a masterpiece! It is a collection of varieties, the only way anyone who listens will not like at least a song in this EP, will just be because he or she doesn’t like me.

2. Of all the 9 songs on there, which ones are you betting big on?

Well, I would say ‘Sinner Man’, ‘Daa Daa’ with Jhuicy, then ‘Dangerous Line’. Personally, my favorite song on the EP is ‘Dangerous Line’. You might want to ask why, because it feels like I was talking about my personality.

3. Mind sharing your music journey with us so far? About Sabi Boy Entertainment all through to your release of ‘’The Son of Raphael’’?

The journey so far has been so challenging especially with finance. You know a good promotion and branding requires funding, but truth is, I have to keep pushing because, I believe just one day I will crack the nut – so I hope and pray this EP attracts sponsors and connections that will boost my career.

4. Being an artist from one of Africa’s biggest music powerhouses, Nigeria… how do you find the Ghana’s industry so far?

Honestly, I do not have anything to say about this because for me I do not see a Ghanaian industry, Nigerian industry or a South African industry or whatsoever. I only see the African music industry, so I am very sorry, I have no comment on this.

5. What should your fans be most excited for in the coming year?

Hmmm, well I am not the type to hype things but they should watch out for more hard work and bigger projects. I hope they get thrilled and excited.
