Well-known Ghanaian actress, Nikoletta Samonas, otherwise known as Nikki Samonas has recently shared her challenging childhood experiences.

Despite her current fame, Nikki revealed that her life was far from easy after her wealthy father passed away when she was just ten years old. This tragedy marked the beginning of a difficult period for her.

The ever-bubbly actress in a candid interview on TV3’s Ladies Circle, dispelled the misconception that she grew up with everything handed to her on a silver platter. She emphasized that her father’s death forced her into a life of hardship, moving from one home to another just to survive.

Reflecting on those tough times, Nikki said, “Fortunately for me, I did have a very rich father. He died when I was ten, so life took a turn. When he died, it was rough. I was hopping from home to home and most people don’t know that. Very soon, I will write a book.”

Her struggles meant that living in the limelight was never something she imagined for herself. “I never ever thought, felt, fathomed, dreamed that I would end up in the limelight,” she admitted. However, these experiences have shaped her, and she plans to document them in a memoir.

Nikki also spoke about her childhood dream of working with the United Nations. This dream became a reality when she was appointed National Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in 2020. She expressed her joy at fulfilling this ambition, stating, “For me, I wanted to work with the UN. That’s the one thing I wanted to do that I have seen come to life as the Global UN Ambassador for Refugees. I felt that I am half-caste, I wanted to learn languages and work with the United Nations, and eventually, it has happened.”
