Printex African Fashion showcase for Muslim women in Ghana (34 of 46)As a show of support for Women’s Month and International Women’s Day Printex Ghana Ltd sponsored the first African print inspired Muslimah fashion showcase. The first ever Ghana Muslimah Dilemma brought together over 350 young Muslim women to the Kama Conference Centre in Labone on Independence Day.

The event was proudly sponsored by Printex Ghana Limited to educate young Muslim Women on the Islamic dress code with inspiration from African Print fabric.Ghana Muslimah Dilemma began with a panel discussion of prominent scholars in Islam about the appropriate dress codes of Muslim women from the Islamic point of view. The speakers were Hajia Aida,Hajia Salah, Hajia Samia and Hajia Ameera from Sudan.This was followed by an educational fashion show that portrayed Hijab designs sewn with the Exclusive,Arete and Safari varieties of Printex fabric. The fashion show featured designs of Sakina Made Abaya, Juweira, Sahada and Bridget Merki’s Hijabi shop.
According to the coordinator of the event, Bridget Merki – Ibrahim, “the intention of the fashion show was to reach as many Muslim ladies as possible to educate them on Hijabi clothing and make them aware of the options available to them in Ghana and also introduce them to the first ever Hijabi shop in Dzorwulu which was launched in December 2013.” She also emphasized that, “the Muslim women needed to know how they can use their African print fabric to be trendy but true Hijabistas.”
The event will be featured by several Islam oriented TV programs and media houses including Metro TV, Hayat TV on ETv and TV3.The Printex african prints and textiles presented at the Muslimah fashion showcase are now available at the newly opened Printex Shop. The two-room shop is conveniently located down the road from Bayport and just minutes from Airport West Hotel on Osu Badu Street. Its hours of operation are Monday to Saturday 10am – 6pm.
