Natalia Andoh, Office Manager of YFM Takorodi and host of the station’s ‘Rise and Shine’ morning show, is set to roll out her ‘Read A Book Campaign’ from June 15-16. The campaign seeks to bring together parents and children from along the coast of the Western Region, with the primary aim of giving them education. Natalia comments: “There will be some fun and entertainment on the side but our primary objective will be to educate the kids along the coast of the western region. One of the cardinal objectives of this event is to educate children in the rural areas, giving them reason to believe in learning and also educating their parents to not give up on their dreams whilst having fun at the same time. The event will provide a platform where education and entertainment is fused together. Ultimately, the nation at large will benefit from these children, if their talents are unearthed in their formative years. “ The ‘Read A Book’ campaign, which is an initiative of Enixel & Hodna and supported by YFM and other stake holders, will offer a unique experience where some Ghanaian celebrities would act as tutors on set dates of the project. This, the organizers believe will go a long way to properly enforce lessons learnt as the kids would have their mentors tutoring them to greater heights. The objectives of the campaign include: to provide accessible education to children in the rural villages by providing them with decent school facilities, instructional materials and educational supplies; to raise awareness of the inadequacies that exist in rural education, the gap between rural and urban schools and to design programs to help bridge these gaps; to raise funds and other resources required to educate the children in rural villages; to promote interest in education and self-reliance particularly amongst the youths and their families in the rural villages; to encourage and motivate educators to participate in the education of children and youths in the rural villages; and to provide other resources such as scholarships, school uniforms and supplies that may allow students the opportunity to attend school.]]>
