Simmons is being recognized for his philanthropy and charitable work and as a film and television producer, who provides opportunities to new talent. Simmons’ television show “Def Comedy Jam” as well as his role as a UN Goodwill Ambassador helped him earn the 2013 Visionary Award. “I’m sincerely humbled that the PGA chose me to receive a Visionary Award,” Russell Simmons told AllHipHop.com. “Just to be in the room with all those in the industry is a blessing.” The Producers Guild represents over 5000 members who work in the film, music and television industry.
