Samini brags about winning Ghana's first Channel O Music Video Award, did he get it wrong?

In his just released cover of Drake’s hit song, ‘Started from the Bottom’, which he calls ‘Started from The Ghetto’, Samini talks about his journey in music so far and mentioned that he was the first to win a Channel O Music Video Award nod for Ghana. In 2011, Samini was largely reported to be Ghana’s first winner at the Channel O Awards when he picked up the gong for Most Gifted Reggae/Dancehall Video with his song Dadiekye.  But at a recent forum, we were told that that report was erroneous and that Hip Life group, VIP were the first to win a Channel O Award for Ghana.
