‘Show some respect’-Zapp Mallet reacts to #BehindTheHitz challenge

Ghanaian Music Producer/Sound Engineer/Mixing Engineer, Zapp Mallet seems unhappy about Sarkodie’s trending  duel for Ghanaian music producers.

On Tuesday, Sarkodie posted a video on his Instagram urging some Ghanaian music producers to join #BehindTheHitz challenge on social media to keep fans entertained during the lockdown.

He challenged gurus like Appietus, Hammar Last 2, Jay Q, Kaywa, MOG and Zapp Mallet.

“In these times we need to b informed and stay safe but at the same time stay entertained while locked down ( Very necessary )… big shouts to the legends Tim x Swizz 🔥🔥🔥 …. got off the phone with a lot of GH producers and still speaking with more to start this epic moment. Guys let’s make this happen … big shouts @alordiapromotion @westcoastuk@djneptizzle 🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭 @appietusmix @jayqgh #behinddahitz,” he captioned the video.

However, Zapp Mallet has registered his disappointment for being challenged alongside producers that he was churning hits before they came into the limelight.

In a Twitter post, he wrote:

“There is something called respect which is lacking in Ghana today. For instance you don’t compare somebody who was churning out hits before you made Kindergarten with your mate who just started a couple of years back. Show some respect. You will also get there.”

Zapp Mallet is recognized as one of the pioneers of the hiplife genre that started in the early 1990s in Ghana. He is also recognized as the only recording engineer to have won the Ghana Music Awards on three consecutive occasions; 1999, 2000, 2001.
