daniellaLast weekend’s Gospel Music night on the ongoing fifth season of Stars of the Future saw patrons dancing and giving glory to God as the remaining 7 contestants gave hearty and exciting performances of some of the most loved Ghanaian gospel songs.

The dynamic Patch Bay Band warmed the crowd with several gospel classics just for the excitement that followed on the night. They went ahead to set the tone for the series of fantastic performances experienced on the night. Kaki stepped up to commence the night’s performance. With a passion to sing and filled with stirring energy, the budding singer performed ‘Tsooboi’ by Naana and Dan. It was another great performance by Kaki who continues to show brilliance in the competition.

Kwame came through with a unique rendition of ‘Fa wa sem tu Nyame anim’ composed by Daughters of Glorious Jesus. Always expect to see a great stage work from Kwame who got great commendations from the three Judges, Zapp Mallet, Doreen Andoh and Kiki Benson.

The nineteen year old Daniella was a fantastic spectacle with a perfect delivery of the award winning gospel music, ‘Afunuba’ by Cecilia Marfo. Not many expected such a great showing from Daniella who speaks less of the Twi language.

The calm and unassuming Dave appeared to lack the stage antics and power to perform a hit by the MTN GMA 2011 winning group No Tribe. Except for his lack of stage presence, he put up quite a good showing much to the appreciation of the audience.

Emmanuel continued with his brilliant performances with a stunning rendition of Soni Badu’s ‘Baba’. As expected the soulful singer he came up with his own style making his performance one of the best on the night.

Noella took audience to the Northern part of the nation with her performance of the Christian inspirational song, ‘Laala’ originally performed by the energetic Sherifa Gunu.

Abby got the entire auditorium screaming with her gospel mix, first with her performance of the popular Nigerian hit song ‘Igwe’. She followed it with ‘Double-Double’ and get the audience going with her with her fanciful footwork.

The performance series continues on Thursday at the National Theater and it will be a night of specially selected ballads.

Patrons are encouraged to come out in their numbers to support their favorite contestants and also vote to keep their favorites in the competition by texting their names to the MTN short code 1750.
