After a no-show in 2010, the popular search for an urban and contemporary Ghanaian music star, ‘Stars of the Future’ is back with Season 5. The new season of the reality TV show was launched recently and conspicuously absent from the list of judges was regular judge, Bibie Brew.  The judges for the new season are Zapp Mallet, Kiki Banson and Doreen Andoh, who are well-established and familiar names of the show. Also to be missed this season is the affable regular host for Stars of the Future, Chris Attoh. He will be replaced by the equally able Sedem Ofori.

The contestants for Season 5 were unveiled at the GhOne studios, the home for Charter House’s entertainment TV network. The 12 finalists are Abigail Bih, Asantewaah Essel, Daniella Dankwah-Coffie (Niiella), David De-Graft Crentsil, Elizabeth Joseph, Emmanuel Yawson, Grace Ocansey, Henry Nuamah, Kwame Wiredu, Rauhel Halidou Yacouba, Reynolds Kwame Addow and Wiyaala Noela.

Also in attendance at the launch were past winners and contestants including Efya, Adina, Bertha, Christian and Irene Logan. Irene Logan advised the 12 finalists to believe in themselves and also see each other not as enemies but competitors.

Season 5 of the Stars of the Future reality show will run for 13 weeks and it includes 10 weeks of ‘painful’ evictions. Stars of the Future airs Sundays and Tuesdays on GTV with repeats on eTV and Y-FM.
