Since the announcement was made that, Nigerian rap sensations, M.I, Ice Prince and their Chocolate City label mates, Brymo and Jesse Jagz would be performing in Ghana on October 1 as part of Nigeria’s Independence Day Celebrations in Ghana; there hasn’t been much publicity around the event. According to rumours, this is because the show will indeed not take place.

Sources say that the Chocolate City gang has signed a contract with another events company to appear on a show scheduled for December and thus they are not allowed to perform in Ghana before that date.  This would constitute a breach of contract , something that Ice Prince experienced earlier this year when he made an appearance at the at the Ghana Music Awards ahead of the Fabolous concert organized by 233connect.  233connect immediately announced that the rapper was effectively removed from that concert only to add him back on the bill after some behind the scene meetings.

The ‘Chocolate City Rocks GH’ concert was originally scheduled for the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre as a collaboration between Advertising & Media Communications (AMC) in Ghana and White Martins Productions Limited from Nigeria. If the concert goes on as planned,  entertainment analysts believe it will battle for audience with the hugely promoted Mavado and Samini concert which also happens on October 1.
