<![CDATA[Miss Earth Ghana, a beauty pageant that is premised on environmental preservation, has announced its finalists and rolled out its TV dairies on TV3. After the pre-selection processes that were held in Accra and Kumasi, 19 beautiful, well heighted, intelligent, young, strong, and determined ladies were chosen to spearhead the course of environmental preservation during this contest. The delegates have undergone a series of pre-camp activities and are poised for environmental preservation activities, which started on Monday, June 25 with tree planting exercises and followed with sanitation activities and environmental talks at selected schools. The unique pageant sees the delegates grouped in 4 elements of the Earth – that is Land, Water, Air – and Fire with each group given an earth preservation task such as sanitizing and beautifying Ghana’s beaches and tree planting exercises amongst others. These environmental activities will be interspersed with very exciting activities and interventions including Eco-Fashion shows and themed photo shoots. Delegates will replicate these activities in Tamale, Kumasi, Tarkwa and Elmina. All the activities of the delegates would be filmed and relayed to the viewing audience in captivating diaries, that would help sustain the interest of the general public in the pageant as well as promote brand of sponsors. Each week would be closed with a thrilling debate, big on Eco- entertainment. Delegates would be pruned down to 10, through a combination of votes by the general public and scoring by judges. The pageant would culminate in a scintillating Grand Finale, offering patrons world class entertainment while helping Save Mother Earth. The final show will see delegates make a 3-minute presentation on a pressing environmental issue. The winner will champion an environmental awareness programme for a year. Causes championed in the Top-3 presentations will also be implemented by the partnering Government Agencies and other corporate bodies dedicated and passionate about reclaiming our degrading environment. Project Director, Mrs Nkechi Onuoha comments: “At Miss Earth Ghana, We believe that environmental education should be given top priority if this national clamor for environmental preservation must yield maximum results, and so we urge our president, ministers, commissioners, ambassadors, corporate executives and parents, to help blend environmental courses into schools’ curriculum.” “We believe that it should be everyone’s agenda to make the earth smile again. When the Earth smiles we will smile, so the clamor goes. Let us keep our environment clean, sow a tree and nurture it, it will grow to save your life,” she added.
