Successful Rappers nowadays sport many different wristwatches that all showcase their art and lifestyle and even mention them in their rap lyrics. With rappers like Jay-Z, and 2Chainz proudly putting on their luxurious icy watches and equating them to success, it is hard to believe there would be a rap star that would diversify that path. But unlike other legendary rappers that like to have some bling on their wrist, there is one that levels himself to the ground and finds other rap material besides watches- Eminem. Despite being one of the most successful rap artists, the only one to have an album hit the number 1 spot in the music charts for four consecutive weeks Em is far away from being shady with his lifestyle.   • Audemars Piguet Royal Oak

First, we will look at the most expensive watch in Eminem’s collection, to clarify that the rapper does own some exquisite pieces. Eminem owns an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Openworked perpetual calendar which is a watch that retails at $115,000. The timepiece is by far the heaviest hitting piece in his collection, with a skeleton dial featuring a perpetual calendar, thirty-nine-millimeter pink gold case, and powered by a 38 jewel caliber120. There are only a few scenarios where you can see Em wearing this piece. It is safe to say that even though Em has a lot to brag about in his career, fortune, and art, he is not one to flaunt his timepieces. This down-to-earth attitude with his lifestyle is clear in how he wears the next watch on the list.

  • G-Shock

Em loves Casio G-Shocks and currently has two favorites. Let’s start with the Casio G A120 A7A. This watch has been seen being sported by Eminem in his video titled “Headlights,“ a song that he wrote to help right some of the wrongs with his mother. The watch features a large white case coming in with a forty-eight-millimeter case diameter and a very approachable price of just $95. In the following suit, we have another white Casio G-Shock that Eminem sported in his video with Dr. Dre “I need a doctor” the watch a Casio DW6900NB7. The watch has become a bit harder to find, however, you can still find them circulating online. The watch features a large 50-millimeter case diameter 200 meters of water resistance and EL backlight timers, alarms, and several other G-Shock features that many of us have come to love. 

However, the last G-Shock that Eminem sports is the one that he made in partnership with Casio back in 2013 marking the 30th anniversary of the G-Shock with a reference number of GDX6900MNM-1. The watch takes the original Casio XL 6900 design and gives it some Eminem flair. The watch comes in with a matte black case dial and pays tribute to Eminem with the printed Detroit skyline in bold red on the upper watch band, a red E placed at the 12 o’clock of the dial, and an engraved signature reading shady on the back of the case. The watch was a limited edition and can only be bought with hundreds of dollars on eBay and if you know how much G-Shocks cost, you would know that this is a pretty penny to be paying for G-Shock.

  • Rolex 

Alongside his love for G-Shocks Eminem also doesn’t enjoy spending money which makes his watch collection very different from many rappers. With Anderson Cooper on a 60-minute interview back in 2011, Anderson asked Em whether he likes spending money. Eminem replied “not particularly” and told the story of a time when he had already sold millions of records. Eminem wanted to buy a Rolex and called his manager to see whether he could afford the timepiece or not. Later in the interview, he reveals he has a Rolex but doesn’t wear it because he doesn’t want it to scratch, and in his typical fashion was wearing a G-Shock in this interview. 

This humble approach towards his success is something that roots back to his early life. Eminem had a tumultuous childhood, to say the least, and would go back and forth between Missouri and Michigan since his mother struggled to maintain any stability until calling Detroit their home. When he was a teenager on a quest to foster purpose and escape from his troubled family life, Marshall, Eminem’s real name, started rapping at the age of 14 with one of his high school friends, where they would constantly have freestyle battles as their level of seriousness grew. 

It took many years for Em to elevate in the underground scene until releasing his first debut album infinite in 1996, following it with The Slim Shady EP in 1997. Eminem’s ability on his first two releases was enough to catch the attention of the legendary producer Dr. Dre. He signed him to Aftermath Entertainment and subsequently led Em to mainstream popularity with his Grammy Award-winning best rap album The Slim Shady LP in 1999.

Eminem has sold over 100 million globally and is one of the few true living legends in hip-hop. Despite the height of fame and overall status in life, he maintains a low profile with his lifestyle. His very unorthodox flow and style in his work certainly trickle down into his overall personality. MTN Ghana Reviews Tariffs Upward




Scancom PLC (MTN Ghana) has announced an upward review of the tariffs of its products and services effective February 07, 2023.

The review is as result of two changes. Firstly, the implementation of the 2.5% statutory adjustment of VAT from 12.5% to 15% across all services. This will impact both Prepaid and Post-paid customers. Secondly, MTN Ghana is proceeding with a 15% average upward review of its mobile data tariffs which was originally announced in November 2022 and was subsequently put on hold. The increase in mobile data tariffs will impact both Pay Monthly and Pay-As-You-Go users. The review in mobile data bundle offers cover products available on the short codes 138 & 170, as well as on purchases through Electronic Voucher Distribution (EVD), MTN Pulse, and Data Zone except for XtraTime.  The data tariff increases do not apply to Fiber Broadband and Fixed Wireless Access (4G Router / Turbonet) customers.

With this review, voice users will receive less airtime due to the VAT implementation, and mobile data customers will receive less data bundle allocations for the same price purchased before the tariff increase was made.

The Chief Commercial Officer for MTN, Mr. Noel Kojo-Ganson, explained the impact by giving an example of how the new pricing will work. He said, following the review, a three cedis airtime purchase before the VAT increase, which previously gave customers 24.4 minutes will now give customers 23.9 minutes, whilst a three cedis data bundle which previously gave customers 471 MBs will now give customers 401 MBs.

Explaining the reason for the upward review of the Data Bundle prices, Mr. Noel Kojo-Ganson said the review was necessitated by the recent economic shifts leading to increasing cost of operations largely due to continuous increase in inflation. “These economic shifts have impacted us directly and for us to ensure we have the right balance for sustaining growth and investments into the network, we have had to consider price increases in various segments of our business.”

Mr. Kojo-Ganson added, “MTN recognises that we are in very tough times and would like to assure our customers that we will continue to offer them the convenience and flexibility in the purchase of data bundles at their desired price points via the MTN Flexi and Non-Expiry Bundles. Also, customers will continue to enjoy the 50% bonus incentive on mobile data purchases via MyMTN App & MoMo (valid for 7 days) for 4G customers”.
