UGPAPeople make lots of decisions about their sexuality in college – whether to abstain from sex, to become sexually active or even to continue being sexually active.

The “freedom” of the environment tends to somewhat allow for lots of “testing the waters” relative to sex and relationships. Thus, although students frequently enter college without adequate sexual health knowledge, they often engage in sexual behaviours that place them at increased risk of unintended health outcomes such as pregnancy, HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.

Unfortunately, the Ghanaian society generally shies away from publicly addressing sexual health and wellness issues – a situation that has conditioned most young adults to either be ignorant; wrongly informed or have little or no knowledge about these issues.

The Sexual Health in 3D SHOW is a mass media campaign that offers an innovative and interactive platform, where young adults engage experts such as counselors and health practitioners in a fun-filled, exciting atmosphere, thoroughly discussing issues on sexual wellness, for ACCURATE ANSWERS to the EDGY QUESTIONS.

Targeted at the campuses of tertiary institutions; the show, a Pharmaid-Ghana initiative, runs on the theme ‘Safeguard Your Valuables’, with the spotlight on 3 key facets of sexual wellness in young adults i.e. Dating, Diseases and Decisions.

Following the massive response to the pilot edition organized last year, by the University of Ghana Pharmacy Students Association (UGPSA) for the University of Ghana campus; this year’s edition promises a bigger and more captivating experience with our ever-refreshingly powerful panel and the support of the Association of Students of Social Work (ASSOW-UG).

Thus, as part of activities to mark the 7th anniversary of the UG Pharmacy Students Association, the 2016 edition of the Sexual Health in 3D show, will see an ENGAGING CONVERSATION on a myriad of topical issues such as: ins and outs of aphrodisiac and contraceptive (regular vs emergency) use, Virginity and You, STI’s and the College Student, Myths & Facts on masturbation, premature ejaculation, menstrual cycle and sexual wellness- the Normal & the Abnormal, among others.

At the drawing down of the curtain for this year’s show, we are optimistic of infecting the university community with a new culture that encourages sexual wellness in a holistic fashion.
