Vancouver Rapper BLAK ACE Releases New Single "Blak Majik"

Vancouver based rapper BLAK ACE has created a whirlwind of swagger and confidence in his new single “Blak Majik”. Written by himself BLAK ACE and the beat was produced alongside by DJ KEMO, the song was recorded at Vanguard Music Studios.

Most notably, the track features a fusion of jazzy horns and a steady hip-hop backbeat that compliments BLAK ACE’s resolute rap delivery. Lyrically, the song discusses the personal obstacles that BLAK ACE has overcome in order to get to where he is now, before discussing broader issues that affect people’s drive.

“Everyday expedition paid my tuition I didn’t pass math, but my art was pimpin’ Self-expression they say that we lack. I make them take those words back .When I spit these raps”

Another thing that the lyrics convey is passion, evoking the braggadocio and positivity found in songs like Nas’ “I Can” and “The World Is Yours”. The song takes the passion of hip-hop and uses it as a vehicle to inspire others to pursue their own dreams.

By moving from BLAK ACE’s personal experiences to wider ones, the song aims to connect with a universal audience. The vibe and energy of this record ebbs and flows, magnetically drawing in the audience for more.

Of the song’s production, BLAK ACE states, “DJ KEMO is a top tier producer, his engineering and musical knowledge of beat mixing makes the music sound flawless. The sound quality from DJ KEMO’s production makes me sound commercial and radio ready. I’m excited to make more music and look forward to the reception of BLAK MAJIK worldwide.”

BLAK ACE got his start with his debut video “My Passion”, which features him showcasing his music to his Vancouver hometown. He then went on to open for well-known hip-hop artists such as E-40, Jadakiss and Fabolous. In 2017, BLAK ACE would embark on his own concert tour “Angelz and Demonz” and perform throughout the British Columbia and Alberta before ending the tour in his hometown.

In addition to pursuing music, he would also develop his own clothing line called BLAK G3AR. BLAK G3AR received immense support from fans and musicians through his lucrative “Body Positive” merchandise campaign and rap artist driven competition “The Transducer.” BLAK ACE most recent music work is the 2019 EP “BLAK SOULZ”.

J. Cole gets Slizzy on Cash Cobain’s new single “Grippy”

Cash Cobain

April’s Billboard Rookie of the Month and multi-hyphenate NYC mainstay Cash Cobainhas enlisted rap superstar J. Cole for “Grippy”, a new version of his acclaimed 2023 song “Dunk Contest” (8M Streams).

Marking the first collaboration between the pair, “Grippy”sees the hip-hop heavyweight offer his most flex-worthy rhymes over Cobain’s signature sexy drill production. The track arrives amidst a hot streak for the rapper and producer, who recently linked up with Ice Spice for the long-awaited video remix for “Fisherrr” (feat. BaySwag) (26M Streams), which marked her third feature ever. It’s been a massive week for Cobain, who just featured alongside Charlie Wilson on Don Toliver’s new single “Attitude”, appeared on A Boogie Wit da Hoodie’s “Body”, and produced Lancey Foux’s “Gotta Get U”, showcasing why COMPLEX proclaimed that summer 2024 is “looking very slizzy”.

After steadily garnering momentum with R-rated anthems over his own ethereal production — pioneering the playful sexy drill sound and Slizzy Movementthat he’s now taking to mainstream heights — Cash Cobain is primed for his moment in the spotlight. Following the success of smash singles “Dunk Contest” and “Fisherrr”, the latter of which is being hailed as an early contender for song of the summer, Cobain has since hit 3M Monthly Listeners on Spotify, entered the Top 3 NYC Shazam Charts, and occupied the #1 and #3 slots of the NYC Apple Music Charts as well as #45 on theUrban Radio Charts. With recent releases “Dunk Contest” (watch his Genius Open Mic appearance), the Ice Spice-assisted remix for “Fisherrr” (feat. BaySwag), and now the J. Cole-featuring “Grippy”, Cash Cobain is elevating his signature sound — and showcasing its ever-growing widespread appeal in the process.

Last month, Cobain took over NYC with his ‘Slizzy Fest’ birthday show at Irving Plaza, a night that boasted a stacked lineup of New York’s finest along with rumors of a surprise set from a certain A-list superstar. After the hype reached a fever pitch, the growing crowd caused security concerns and the show was ultimately canceled –– but Cobain still wanted to give the fans their money’s worth. So he led the crowd down the street into Union Square and threw a makeshift show with just his crew, a Bluetooth speaker — and hundreds of adoring fans (read ‘I Went to Cash Cobain’s Slizzyfest and All I Got Was That Classic NYC Feeling’ via Rolling Stone and his statement in Billboard). Cobain has since teased potential collaborations with Frank Ocean, Travis Scott, Don Toliver (seen filming a music video here), Lil Yachty and more –– a sure sign of the worldwide stardom soon to come.

These recent releases arrive on the heels of a career-minting 2023 year that wrapped with the production of PinkPantheress’ “Nice To Meet You” (feat. Central Cee), which debuted at #20 on the Billboard Hot 100 (Cobain recently starred alongside her in a nationally-syndicated Apple commercial for the new MacBook). Previous months also saw Cobain produce Drake’s “Calling For You” (feat. 21 Savage), which debuted at #5on the Billboard Hot 100, DJ Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack x Audemars Piguet event, and release his critically-acclaimed debut solo album Pretty Girls Love Slizzy with Giant Music.
