VGMA not our goal; We’re focused on winning souls – Daughters of Glorious Jesus

Ghanaian Gospel music stalwarts, Daughters of Glorious Jesus have made it clear that their focus extends beyond accolades such as the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).

In a refreshing perspective, the trio emphasized that their primary goal is not the pursuit of awards but the profound impact of their music in winning souls. With a career spanning several decades, the renowned gospel group has become synonymous with inspirational and soul-stirring gospel tunes. Their music, characterized by powerful vocals and spiritually uplifting messages, has garnered widespread acclaim. However, the group asserts that their mission transcends industry recognition.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Roselyn Felli on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning, the group, composed of Cynthia Appiadu, Edna Sarpong and Monica Owusu Ansah disclosed that it has never filed for the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA). They averred that winning awards is not their ultimate target as gospel ministers; instead, preaching God’s word through music to change people’s lives remains their major goal.

“We’re not interested in picking forms for the VGMA because we are more focused on winning souls than the awards. Our calling is a unique one, and we don’t want to be distracted or deviate,” she said.

The ‘Ennye yie’ hitmakers further stated that they will not purchase forms to fill out, but if nominated regardless, they will attend the event. The sisters went on to disclose that they have been accumulating awards from all over the world in different award schemes without filing for nominations.

“If you want to do it for us, just go ahead and pick it; we’re ok,” they said.
