The Voices of Redemption (VOR), a Christian Arts and Evangelism Ministry of the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) in Tarkwa will this weekend celebrate its bi-annual music, drama and dance festival dubbed VORAFEST ’10 at the University’s Sports Field. The festival scheduled between Friday 15th October – Sunday 17th October is under the theme ‘Absolute Worship’ and seeks to bring various groups within and outside the Western Region under the feet of worship.

Gospel music genius, Kofi Dua Anto (KODA) of Da Project fame, a multi-instrumentalist, minister, songwriter and recording engineer, will be headlining the festival according to organisers.

Speaking to the writer in an interview, Michael Asiedu Djan, a member of VORAFEST ’10 Planning Committee, he reiterated that, ‘It is important we get to understand true worship and as such offer it wholly to our maker.  This is why we chose ‘Absolute Worship’ as the theme for the festival which will be both a learning period as we offer our talents in music, choreography, drama and other Christian arts to God. The festival is absolutely free and we are expecting everyone to be there to experience it for themselves.’

The festival will begin on Friday 15th October with a Choreography and Drama Night to feature VOR, UMaT Mass Theatre and some groups from churches within the environs of Tarkwa. Saturday 16th October will see the ministry and its partners trooping to the Tarkwa Orphanage to undertake a donation ceremony in the morning. In the evening will be the highlight of the festival which is the Music (Worship) Night with the guest artiste being KODA. Other ministering groups include one of Western Region’s best gospel groups Y-Praise, UMaT Mass Choir, among others. The festival ends on Sunday 17th October with a Mega Joint Service.

Mr. Frederick Sedinam Datsomor, one of the organisers of the festival also related that anticipation has reached its peak even in the wake of lecturers strike on the campus of the mining University as well the mining town of Tarkwa. ‘We are very ready to offer patrons a memorable festival of music, dance, drama and word ministrations which we expect to take them to the next level. Preparations haven’t been easy but the good Lord’s mercies have brought us far and we can’t wait to offer him what is due him,’ he said.
