Watch: Afia Schwarzenegger declares intention to contest Fomena MP seat in 2024

Controversial “Queen of Comedy”, Afia Schwarzenegger has declared her intention to contest for a parliamentary seat in Ghana’s Parliament.

The Radio and TV personality, in an Instagram post, declared her intention to contest the Parliamentary seat in Fomena Constituency in the Ashanti Region in the 2024 elections.

In a video shared on her Instagram page, Afia was seen driving in and around Fomena to resounding cheers and praise from constituents, fuelling her decision to contest the seat.

“With the help of God n my personal angel(dad), I’m coming back to contest the fomena seat in 2024…my people deserves better,” she captioned the video.

The Fomema Constituency seat is currently occupied by Hon. Andrew Amoako Asiamah who is currently the Second Deputy Speaker of Ghana’s Eight Parliament.

In a separate video, Afia revealed that this was the first time she was visiting Fomena, her father’s hometown in over 2 decades.

“Visiting my father’s village for the 1st time in abt 22 years. They have a message for the MP!!!!!” she captioned the video.

Afia Schwarzenegger will not be the first public figure to contest Parliamentary elections in Ghana.

Last year, actor John Dumelo made his colleagues proud after he fought a good fight to secure the Ayawaso West Wuogon seat in the Greater Accra Region. He however, lost out on the elections.
