Speaking at the press conference of yet to be produced movie ‘AWAY BUS’, the director explained how the practice of labeling movies produced in different parts of the country inhibits Ghanaian movies from competing in international film festivals.

“There are a number of films that have traveled far and are in local languages, so beautiful and very award-winning from other countries and we appreciate them. But when we come to Ghana and people start speaking twi in films then we go: ‘Ohhh it’s Kumawood film so the quality is not good’” he said

The 2019 FESPACO award-winning movie director also called on Ghanaians to appreciate movies produced in local languages more as they can compete in film categories like ‘BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM’, win awards and bring international attention to the movie industry.
