Rapper, Eno Barony has stated that adding their gender when referring to them as musicians is wrong and should not be encouraged.

According to her, they all “use the same microphones” hence, should not be labelled based on their gender.

This comes after women who are doing music in Ghana are often referred to as “female musicians” whereas their male counterparts are referred to as just “musicians.”

In a sit down interview with Arnold on his Vibes in 5 show, she stated:

“They are putting us in a box because if you want to talk about artistes since we all using the same microphones and stages, you should call us artistes … then why don’t you be like male artiste and female artiste? ” she quizzed.

She also added that women are competing on the same levels as men, hence they should not be given special treatment and viewed as the “weaker” gender.

“Women are special, yes we are but I have this mentality that what a man can, a woman can also do. So that thing like women are the weakest so let’s do this for them, I don’t buy into that,” she added.
